  1. STUART SPECTOR asks Dec 5, 2022

I HAVE A 5 INCH MIRKA SANDER AND WAS HOPING THAT THE FINER GRITS WOULD BE AVAILABLE IN THAT SIZE? I DON'T SEE THEM LISTED.

    1. Brandon Cook answers Dec 7, 2022

      Hello!
Due to the many options of size, and grit and backing, abrasives can be tough to find in many cases. My apologies for the difficulty as we attempt to make this easier and more user-friendly.
Depending on the series of paper you are looking for, here are a few part numbers that may assist you in finding the correct grit and size. Being a 5 inch (DEROS?) sander, the 2 most popular papers are the Mirka GOLD series and the Mirka ABRANET Series. The gold is a paper-backed traditional style paper, whereas the abranet is a mesh/screen/net style abrasive that generally tends to be longer lasting, and better with dust extraction. Here are the key numbers you will want to start your search.

For standard GOLD 5" hook and loop series, the part number will begin with 23-5MF-GRIT, so if you were looking for say, a 400 grit paper, you would search 23-5MF-400. For a 60 Grit, you would search 23-5MF-060, and so on.

For the ABranet Series, you would want to search the number with 9a-232-GRIT, so like the GOLD series, you would simply enter the desired grit in the last set of numbers.

It is also recommended to use the pad saver with net abrasives. One was included with the sander and should be used ANYTIME you sand with net or screen style abrasives to prolong the life of the pad, and keep the hook and loop fasteners from wearout down.

      I hope this helps!
      Thank you for your inquiry!
