Landon Lucas asks
Hi there,
I have a Mirka 1230 with a 3x5 orbital sanding head. I would like to use the set up to sand the grooves in cabinetry and window/door mouldings and such. How would you recommend I do that? Is there a softer sandpaper I should use or even a softer backing pad for the 3x5? I have looked around on your website but haven't found anything I'm sure could be a solution.
Thanks in advance!

Hello!
Grooves and profiles can be a bit tricky. While there aren't many options for a softer pad for that sander, you could try using the interface pad 9135. This pad will provide some forgiveness and flexibility to the existing pad for grooves, profiles, and contours. Even still, depending on the contaxt this may not be 100% ideal. Festool makes a sander called the LS130 which is specifically designed to handle these kinds of jobs. Ive attached a couple of links for the pad and the sander if interested.

I hope this helps.
Thank you for your inquiry!
